Enterprise Stories - Mary Akpobome (Heritage Bank)

Fri 25th Mar 2016

Every business has a story, a story of how it started, scaled the hurdles it encountered and more interestingly, how it positions for growth and success. Women are leading many successful businesses today and a recent report according to McKinsey Global Institute, $12 trillion could be added to global GDP by 2025 if women’s equality is not only advanced but promoted. For decades, gender inequality has been not only a social issue but a moral one and in recent times has become a serious economic challenge. From recent research, Global economy will suffer adversely if half of the world’s working population (whom are women) remain dormant and unable to maximize their full economic potential. For this to happen, the public, private, and social sectors will need to act to close gender gaps in the workplace and in the society. In this special episode of enterprise stories, we feature the acting Managing Director of Heritage bank Mrs. Mary Akpobome, who will share her unique story of how she started her career in banking, blazed the trail, plus heritage Bank's commitment to supporting women in business.
