On Enterprise Stories this week, we feature the story of Toyin Ashaolu, a lawyer turned fashion designer. Toyin always had a flare for fashion; she had a good eye for fabrics and an interest in designs. While in school she gave her tailors a good run for their money as they had to go the extra mile to satisfy her. In 2009, she moved from just loving fashion and started “The Ankara Place Ltd” with one tailor in her living room. She then went for a six months training to perfect her skills and in 2010, registered The Ankara Place as a limited liability company and moved to the high streets of Lekki. Today, The Ankara Place Limited have participated in three trade shows and exhibitions in Nigeria, now has 12 staff and is in the concluding stage of rebranding the company to a bigger fashion house.
