This week on Enterprise Stories we feature Jerry Oche, the founder of Zowasel - an agro-platform that provides access to finance, enhanced agro-inputs and market access to smallholder farmers at affordable costs without hassles. Jerry Oche was privileged to grow up in a predominantly agrarian community where his mom struggled through his childhood and subsequent university years to pay his school fees through subsistent farming using manual tools. He saw other kids drop out of school due to bad harvest and their parents’ lack of money to support their education. This was the motivation to found Zowasel in order to support and empower millions of smallholder farmers, especially women. He registered Zowasel in 2014, started operations in 2016 and in 2 years has 15 staff and many freelancers and has been selected as finalist in the Visa Everywhere Initiative, Sub-Sahara Africa, holding later this month in South Africa.
