From spending her savings on luxury handbags to producing luxury handbags, this week on Enterprise Stories we feature the story of Haowa Bello, CEO Madam Coquette. In 2008, Haowa just completed the mandatory NYSC program and had since made up her mind to venture into business, the problem however was what business idea to start. Haowa carried this burden on her mind and shared it with her sister; she suggested that Haowa start producing handbags since she loved bags so much and would spend a fortune to own quality bags. She reminded her how she always admired their mother’s handbags and purses as kids. That same year, Haowa employed a staff and started a trial run, and soon incorporated Madam Coquette. She also got a loan from her sister to buy materials and produced 3 handbags which she sold off and this convinced her that this was her calling. Today, Haowa has employed more staff and produces high quality handbags. She now also exports her luxury bags and has participated in many fashion shows including African Fashion Week in 2013, London fashion week and a fashion show in Berlin. Recently, Haowa was featured on CNN African Voices, and her new venture into Agric business was also featured, but how did she get into agriculture?
